Baby Burk’s Gender Reveal Party

This weekend we had our gender reveal party. It was shorter and sweeter than I’d always imagined, but it’s a sign of the times. No matter, it didn’t keep us from having a truly amazing day with family and friends. Watch the quick video of our confetti cannon reveal (which we highly recommend) that announced the big news!

Baby Burk is a… *drumroll*

Was your guess right?? Mine was not, if you can’t tell by my shocked face below, ha!

Our first born is going to be a bouncy little baby boy! We’re really excited and have already started thinking about nursery decor and names. Once we decide on a name though, we’ll be keeping it a secret until he’s born. We love the idea of being able to introduce him for the very first time ourselves live and in person.

With that, let’s talk about the decorations and favors from our big celebration.

Gender Reveal Party Favor Bags

These organza favor bags were super affordable from Amazon Prime. We used the 4×6 inch size. They come in a minimum of 100 but I figured we can use the rest of the blue bags for baby shower favors! Also, I’ll be putting the additional pink bags and any leftover pins for sale on my Mercari since we won’t use these for this pregnancy. I’m a HUGE fan of Mercari for this reason. If you don’t have an account yet, I highly recommend signing up here!

Pink Blue Party Favor Bags

“Team Boy” and “Team Girl” Pins

We put these corresponding “Team Boy” and “Team Girl” pins in the pink and blue bags along with the candy so attendees could wear their guesses! I thought these were the cutest ones out there for a reasonable price, also purchased from Amazon.

Plus, they come with some pins that say “Team Both” for guests who aren’t decided or don’t want to choose!

Gender Reveal Party Decorations

Most of these were DIY projects I made using my Cricut Explore Air 2. The only decor I bought were the fringe curtains which came in a two-pack, so these two came as a pair, also from Amazon.

Gender Reveal It's a Boy

I also made this fun sign to share everyone’s guesses in advance. In a normal environment, I would have had the cut outs sitting available for guests to write their name on and paste to a side themselves as they arrived, but given the distance element this year, I did it ahead of time.

Gender Reveal Team Boy Team Girl

I’ll talk more about this and the custom banner I made that is hanging in front of the fringe in a later post. They’re all homemade and the craziest part is that between my coupons and rewards I only paid 55 centers for all the supplies! Gender Reveal Confetti Cannons

With all the crazy stories we read these days about gender reveals gone wrong, we wanted something very safe and simple. These confetti cannons from Amazon were PERFECT! They had amazing reviews and they fully held up.

Gender Reveal Party Confetti Cannon

Something important to know about these cannons:

  • You can’t return them, so either buy both and eat the cost, or let someone else in on the secret and have them order the right one in advance.
  • BOTH the girl and boy cannons have the exact same exterior. Some reviews said the boy one had blue on the outside and it gave it away, but that’s not exactly true. The brand’s logo is blue, and is on BOTH cannons. I’m guessing they had a friend order the right one and it happened to be a boy, so they thought that was related to the logo being blue.
  • There’s a QR code on each cannon that is supposed to let you know which one it is. However, I couldn’t get it to scan on either cannon. Luckily, the barcode number is the same as the Amazon item number, so you can also identify them this way.
  • They’re not hard to twist at all. Even with Kevin’s arm in a sling he could’ve shot his own. But we didn’t know if there’d be recoil (there was none) so we just shot one together. They’re also spring loaded so they’re much safer than some of those horror story cannons you read about online.
Gender Reveal Envelope and Cannons

What I did was looked at the cannon’s barcode numbers and labeled them by post it note a month before the party. They then sat in their box until the party day. This way, my best friend could open our doctor’s envelope and easily hand us the right cannon at the reveal!

Pink and Blue Candy

It was a total coincidence, but springtime/Easter time is a great time to find some light pink and light blue wrapped candy. The Kit Kats were from a variety bag that also came with some purple and yellow ones. We primarily used the pink and blue ones, but used the purple ones in case we needed more in some bags.

Gender Reveal Party Pins

The Dum Dums were in the Party section at Walmart. These were the blue Dum Dums and these were the pink Dum Dums we bought. For any kids that attended, we made them a bag of six suckers (no pins, no Kit Kats). We made the little lady guests a pink bag and the little gentlemen guests a blue bag. They were a HUGE hit!

Overall, there was a few hours of prep involved but they were beyond worth it. The party went off without a hitch and cost us just under $100. Not bad at all!

Gender Reveal Confetti Cannons

I’d 100% do everything the exact same all over again, and highly recommend any of these products for your own gender reveal party. Also, sharing this link to my dress because it’s comfortable, non-maternity (but also bump friendly) and under $50 with coupons and sales! Wearing an XL very comfortably even with a small bump.

Please let me know below with any questions about the details of the day I may have missed. I’d love to help your day go off without a hitch!
