We’ve had the same red dish cloths for the last 6+ years. I think we bought them while at our Evanston condo in 2016. They’re nothing special, so with that kind of mileage it’s safe to say they’ve seen better days. That prompted me to look at my kitchen towels, oven mitts, etc. and I realized basically none of it matches, and none of it is in amazing shape. It was time for a full on kitchen linen refresh.
Current Kitchen Towels
To be honest, I was so excited when the new stuff came in that I didn’t get any real before pictures. But to give you an idea, here’s the potpourri variety of kitchen towels I was using.
Different colors, different textures, no more than a few pieces matched one another. But it’s one of those things you live with long enough so you start to not notice it. Thankfully, I’m on it.
Farmhouse Kitchen Towels & Linens
One thing was for sure, everything was going to match. Why buy new kitchen towels and linens to have them already not match?
Sticky Toffee makes sets of OEKO-TEX certified kitchen textiles in several colors so everything you have will match seamlessly. Given my neutral aesthetic I went with their grey and white collection.
There’s a mix of white windowpane pattern and solid grey kitchen towels. We always keep one out at a time but it’d be cute to layer them when you have guests!
The dish cloths are the exact same so they match beautifully. You don’t realize how nice it is to have a cohesive set of linens in your kitchen until you’ve lived six years with mismatched towels and rags.
Additionally, they have complementary oven mitts, table runners and placemats. I opted for all three so come time to entertain my kitchen is really singing!
If you’re interested in saving a bit and fully overhauling your kitchen, this kitchen towel and linen bundle comes with all the towels and mitts together. It makes for a great housewarming gift, too!
Recycling Kitchen Towels & Linens
If your towels are very gently used and in great shape I suggest donating them to Goodwill or Salvation Army to give them a new life. If I have linens in rougher shape but are still usable I bring my bag of donations to a local animal shelter.
The volunteers can always use towels and things to clean their crates and any old blankets I have can be snuggled up on by the animals. It’s a great feeling to be able to not only recycle these items but help some animals in need. Everyone is always appreciative of the contribution!
Kitchen Linen List
Below is a list of all the kitchen linens in my post.
What do you think of the new towels and dish cloths? Would you also opt for the grey and white set or did another color catch your eye? Let me know if you’re giving any of these pieces a try in the comments below!
