Designing a Soft Peach Baby Girl Nursery

I’m in LOVE with how Kenzie’s room and the photos of it came out! Her room was done shortly after she arrived, which was a few weeks early, but life’s been busy (with two babies under two for a second, imagine that). Finally, it’s my absolute pleasure to share how her natural, soft peach nursery turned out. Read on for all of the details and shop the full source list at the end!

Nursery Accent Wall

Coral is one of my favorite colors. Not orange, specifically the beautiful pink and orange mixture that makes up coral. But for a baby’s room I wanted something softer. I love warm tones, and having already done big sister’s room in a soft pink color I wanted something different for baby sister. Enter the soft peach shade adorning the accent wall of Kenzie’s nursery.

The accent wall wasn’t done with rigid measurements. Ultimately, I drew a design inspired by this accent wall I saw on Pinterest. I handed it to Kevin with some creative license (which is a big step out of my comfort zone, I’m still proud of that) and asked him to make it happen. Huge props to him for bringing this design to life for Kenzie’s peach nursery!

Baby Girl Nursery Crib

We wanted a white crib to pop against the peach accent wall and the Bellwood 5-in-1 crib was the perfect fit for this space! I also love that the back features a soft arch over the top. It’s a beautiful contrast to the rigid geometrical wall behind it.

Special shout out to the solid back panel because it keeps pacifiers and toys from falling behind the crib in a hard-to-reach spot!

Our crib mattress is the breathable crib mattress everyone is always talking about. I got this for Alexis in pink two years ago but ordered a second cover in white. Highly suggest a second cover for middle of the night accidents/blow outs, and also getting it in white because you never know what the future holds. If we had a boy I’d likely have wanted white for his room versus pink.

Graco Bellwood White Crib

Kenzie’s crib also has four mattress height settings, which is incredible because having a tall option when they’re tiny is a real back-saver. Then, as they get bigger and can sit, stand, etc. you have to be able to drop the mattress for their safety. Currently, we’re on the very top setting as she isn’t doing any sort of sitting, crawling, standing, etc.

Under Crib Storage

Lastly, let’s talk about the drawer. It’s perfect for storing diapers, toys and more until she’s in the right stage for them. The drawer is especially great to store hand-me-down items if you have multiples!

Huge Shoutout to Storkcraft!

Storkcraft is a household staple for us. They generously provided us with this gorgeous Bellwood crib for Kenzie! Both of the girls’ cribs are from Storkcraft and we’ve been nothing short of thrilled with both of them!

While in business for nearly 80 years (since 1945), their owner, Justin, is a fellow tennis player and became a dad himself this year. He shared with me another gorgeous crib from the Storkcraft family that he designed specifically for their new bundle of joy! If you’re looking for a gorgeous, modern crib for your little in several neutral color options be sure to check out the Storkcraft Santorini Deluxe 6-in-1 crib. My favorite is the black with driftwood color-way!

Cozy Peach Nursery Rocker and Table

If you’re a longtime reader, this area may look familiar. Probably because you’re seeing the exact same nursery rocker, table and lamp as we have in Alexis’ room!

This rocker/recliner combo was a no-brainer for the second nursery because it checks all of our boxes. Kevin needs something with a tall back (he’s 6′ 6″) and we both wanted sturdy arm rests along with something that rocks and reclines. On top of all that, I also wanted something very neutral and minimal. It was quite the list, but this one fits all the requirements!

The recliner and table are adjacent to the only window in her room, which makes for very peaceful middle of the night feeds. Her white curtains are the same brand as the ones in Alexis’ room because they’re TRULY BLACKOUT even though they’re both very light! They’re my one big splurge for the nursery because a dark room means better sleep, so it’s a great investment.

I’ve had that adorable ducky canvas since we moved in and it’s moved around, but this is by far its best home yet. Also pictured is the air purifier we swear by for both kids’ rooms.

Nursery Changing Pad & Dresser

The dresser and changing station is one of my favorite features of her peach nursery. It’s not only beautiful but super functional. The dresser is a hand-me-down from Kevin’s sister who was moving to a new apartment with no room for it so we were more than happy to take it! She didn’t know she was going to be Kenzie’s godmother at the time, but I think it’s very sweet that Kenz has her aunt/godmother’s dresser.

Neutral Nursery Dresser and Decor

It’s originally from IKEA and it looks like it may recently have started being made again! It’s apparently very popular because of its size and storage capacity but had gone out of circulation for a bit.

Nursery Baby Changing Station

The generous surface space allows me to keep a changing pad and all the diaper change essentials nearby with plenty of room to spare. Plus, I love having a mirror near the changing pad so as Kenzie gets older she can check her little outfits. 🥰

Natural Wood Nursery Shelves

Off to the right I have a couple of shelves with some simple decor to fill the long wall space. The vase and pampas grass stems bring height to the space, connecting the dresser and the wall decor.

A nursery should definitely be more about function but I had plenty of extra space to add a little decor for decor’s sake.

The dresser is right between the door to her room and her closet. I love this piece for its extra long length for the space we have. It fills the area out with just enough room to place our diaper pail on the closet side end.

Peach Nursery Closet Storage

Admittedly, I didn’t over-engineer things in the closet. With Kenzie being my second child I’m not only much more limited in time, but also have a better understanding of what is really necessary and what is a ‘nice to have’.

Below is simply a very real day-to-day look at the closet space.

Something I learned from Alexis’ closet is that a practical hamper far outweighs an aesthetic look any day. She initially had a heavier metal one with a cloth bag inside.

While it looked great, it wasn’t easy to haul to the laundry room or dump the clothes out of without the bag flipping inside out. I found Kenzie’s polka dot hamper and got Alexis a similar one at the same time.

One thing I was sure to replicate was a cube shelf with cute organizer bins. We use these for shoes, swimsuits and gear, clothes in upcoming sizes, accessories and more every day.

A 2×3 cube size is perfect to fit in the closet underneath the clothing racks, providing six cubes of storage plus room to keep things on top as needed.

Other Peach Nursery Decor

Poking out from behind the crib in the corner is an important station. We have a matching end table to the one by the rocker with her sound machine and Baby Shusher.

White Baby Nursery Crib

Also on this side of the room is toy and book storage, and extra seating. Mackenzie’s room is noticeably smaller than Alexis’, so while there isn’t quite room for a three-seater couch, I wanted an extra seat.

Whoever isn’t feeding the baby likes to join for the bedtime routine sometimes and we need somewhere to kick back. This soft ottoman was the perfect little addition for a quick seat!

Boho Baby Room Decor

Next to the ottoman, I wanted somewhere to store toys, books, etc. We plan to leave most of the books in Alexis’ room since she has more space, but Kenz has her own toys that will need a spot, too! This white cubby shelf was just what I wanted.

That concludes the 360 degree tour of Kenzie’s peach nursery. What did you think? We’re both over the moon and the kids seem to enjoy their time in there, too. Full source list below, but please feel free to ask me about any of the decor or pieces I might’ve missed in the comments and I can share a source.
