if you’re traveling anywhere further than target with a baby, some of these are truly lifesavers. ⭐️

we’ve had most of these since alexis was teeny but the electric nasal aspirator is a newer addition since kenz joined us. it’s probably the NUMBER ONE thing we wish we’d have gotten sooner! the nose suckers are rough sometimes, not having to literally suck those boogs helps. 💯

annual trek to lincoln park for melted cheese 🫕 (a trek i’ll make year after year after year as long as @gejas_cafe keeps letting me in).

the highlight is the cheese but the pound cake covered in their incredible chocolate fondue is a verrrrry close second! kev will tell you this tradition is for me, but he’s the one that makes the reservation and ensures we go every year, so you tell me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

cheers to a 13 year tradition with many more to go! 🥂

birthday weekend dump🥤
started with a shot (not the starbucks kind), ended with a fully decorated + open yard just in time for summer.

- birthday starbies
- how to order birthday starbies
- shlepping a toddler and baby 40 mins to the nearest available derm to get a steroid shot in my painful (but benign) cyst on my right shoulder (can now check getting a shot while baby wearing* with my toddler watching off the to-do list) shout out again to backpack wearing in 90-degree weather travel days for this entire debacle
- birthday ‘fit
- sushi + app spread at @sensofrankfort
- signature lobster filet mignon roll — INCREDIBLE
- kenzie feeding kev for the very first time 🥹
- more yard bling for my bday because i’m 37 and all i want are lawn ornaments and childcare

*shout out to the @tushbaby snug attachment for my hip carrier because wearing kenz and having them both with me was SO smooth with her in this! and because she’s sitting on the hip seat carrier versus being in a standard no-seat baby carrier it was WAY less stress on my back and shoulders. 🙌🏻 code ASHLEYBURK will save you 15% (sometimes more if they have a promo going on) if you want to level up your tushbaby game!

under $20, the best money you’ll spend on a toddler toy this summer! 🫧

my daughter loves bubbles but isn’t always perfectly skilled at blowing them yet so this helps her out big time. she then chases them afterwards — fun on fun on fun!

the one where we meal prepped, fed, exfoliated, washed and swam with elephants in thailand. 🐘♥️

kev and i still talk about this experience almost daily. it was a once in a lifetime experience to be able to care for and hang out with seriously beautiful, magnificent and kind creatures.

some photo highlights:
- first several photos are feeding the elephants/getting acquainted — one of the videos shows how they grab their food with their trunks, which was so cool to see in-person 🍌
- got brave enough to give em a smooch 💋
- there was one mommy & baby elephant duo and the baby was such a clumsy little thing it was the sweetest 🥺
- next, was the mud pit to clay up — this is like an exfoliating treatment for the elephant babes 🧖🏼‍♀️
- then we swam with them in the pool — SO COOL 🧽
- finally, we scrubbed them clean in the showers 🚿
- after a day of hanging with elephants we also got a hands-on cooking class where we learned how to make papaya salad and pad thai 🌶️

the sanctuary is a privately run business that raises money to rescue exploited and overworked elephants. i had NO idea what an issue this is. there are lots of ways owners can work elephants inhumanely and this park works to save them from that life, which in turn provides the elephants great care, human interaction and provides us with the chance to be around these fantastic animals.
