While the majority of my home is ‘modern farmhouse’ I’ve also interspersed hints of boho in most rooms. Our upstairs bathroom is no different with its tassels, greenery, warm textiles and soft textures. While very simple, the decor I’ve added has transformed this space greatly. Plus, most of the items in this room are from Amazon, so convenient! Let’s take a walk through my upstairs hallway boho farmhouse bathroom.
Before Photos of Our Hall Bathroom
The original decor for this bathroom was from our condo. We only had one bathroom and it was decked out in nautical, navy and anchors. We loved it, but this house has an entirely different vibe.
Note: in the process of updating the decor we also swapped the light fixture, towel bars, towel hooks and added hardware to the cabinets. It was a little more involved than just a decor swap, but well worth it in the end!
Boho Farmhouse Bathroom Fixtures
The first things we addressed were the light fixtures and faucets. We actually swapped these out before we redecorated, as you can tell from the ‘before’ pictures. Changing your fixtures and/or hardware isn’t necessary to the transformation, but certainly did get us to our ultimate end goal all at once.
Kevin replaced the light fixture, faucets, towel bar, bath towel hooks, and toilet paper holder himself (bless this man). We had a professional come in to attach our cabinet hardware since you can’t easily patch those if you make a mistake and we’re just not well-versed in cabinetry.
We saved a ton by doing most of this DIY, which allowed us to replace so much at once. It may be a project you do piece by piece because faucets and light fixtures are sneakily pricey. However, my cabinet hardware was super affordable because we found it on Amazon! The installer did both bathrooms and our kitchen all at once too, which saved us in the long run.
Boho Shower Curtain and Hardware
As strange as this may sound, the shower curtain and bar area is one of my favorites for this space. This is probably because if you look in the before photos you’ll see a shiny(and dirty) chrome shower curtain rod and rusting shower curtain rings. No more!
These shower curtain rings and shower curtain rod are rust proof, matte black and from Target. It just took a few small changes at very little cost to make this area look so much more luxe! Plus, this Amazon boho style shower curtain with gray tassels/fringe was exactly what I was looking for in this space. Simple but fun while keeping it neutral.
To complement the black shower hardware, we hung two black bath towel hooks on the adjacent wall. These are typically unoccupied since this is currently a guest bathroom, but it’s important to have a space for guests to hang their towel during their stay. Adding a couple hooks to your guest bathroom is a very quick and easy DIY that I highly recommend to add that extra touch for your guests.
Eventually I may look into adding some decor to the wall inside the shower, perhaps a small shelf with some greenery on it to add detail and dimension to that space. Will certainly be back to share that DIY if I do!
Functional Boho Farmhouse Bathroom Ammenities
The light gray towels and washcloths are from Target and were worth every penny. They’re incredibly soft and the color matched the gray shower curtain tassels perfectly.
This perfectly farmhouse wall sign was a Hobby Lobby find in later 2019. Can’t tag it sadly, but I highly recommend poking around your local Hobby Lobby for some great wall decor options.
My cotton ball and cotton swab apothecary jars were an Amazon find. They’re the exact perfect heigh to stand the swabs up and fit plenty of both for your guests. I loved the idea of putting this Bath & Body lotion in this room because not only is it a great scent but the amber glass and green on the label matched the space perfectly. Ironically, the lotion is eucalyptus and spearmint scented to match the eucalyptus on the wall nearby.
Originally, this wood tissue box cover was purchased for my powder room but it matched this bathroom so perfectly I moved it upstairs. You may know how much I love my Rae Dunn, so I added this cute jar of decorative matches (they’re functional but serve mostly as decor) and a bottle of air spray for some truly practical decor.
You can never have too many functional amenities in a guest bathroom, am I right?
Farmhouse Bathroom Decor Details
Neutrals and greenery are the name of the game for a simple boho farmhouse bathroom. If you peek at the before photos you’ll notice a brown tray with a light blue anchor on it. I didn’t want to get rid of it because it was a thoughtful gift and a great piece, so I debated what to do with it. It dawned on me to spray paint it white and hot glue a mini wreath to it for the new space!
Separate tutorial about this DIY decor coming soon.
Heading back to the front of the bathroom you’ll also see another piece of wall decor by the sink.
This mason jar greenery decor is another DIY project of mine that I’m hoping to share in the future. It’s simply a piece of wood stained the dark shade I wanted with three mason jars fastened on the back with plumbing hardware, actually. Will get into specifics when that post comes.
I was strategic about which piece hung where, and here’s why. This second piece sticks out much further on its own, nonetheless with the eucalyptus leaves shooting out the top. Putting it over the sink would assure me it wouldn’t be bumped into as guests were coming in and out of the bathroom. Plus, the height of this piece works well with the tall mirror on the adjacent wall.
What did you think of the space? I’d love to know your favorite part. Share your boho farmhouse bathroom faves in the comments below, please and thank you!
