A stylish home is important, but it should never be more important than ensuring your space functions the way you need. In the two years we’ve been in the new house we’ve come across a bunch of eyesores and found ways to fix them. These kitchen hacks are what keep my kitchen functional yet aesthetically pleasing.
Put Napkins Away
We don’t keep our napkins out on the counter. I did all my life, and that’s totally normal, but I got tired of looking at them in this house. We have some space in our silverware drawer so I tucked them in there.
It’s perfect because you’re usually grabbing a napkin any time you’re looking for silverware anyway. I keep my old black napkin holder in this drawer, too. That way, when we have people over I can still neatly place napkins out for guests. Another option is to keep them in your pantry if you have more space in there.
Inside Mount Paper Towel Holders
Our mounted paper towel holder was an Amazon find that I installed myself in under five minutes. It’s meant to be an under cabinet mount, but there’s absolutely no reason you can’t mount it inside your cabinet door like I did.
It’s always tucked away out of sight for a neater countertop. Plus, it’s right next to our household cleaners so we can grab both at the same time when cleaning. This is one of my favorite kitchen hacks!
Store Rarely Used Appliances
If you don’t use your toaster, blender, air fryer or other small kitchen appliance daily, it might be worth finding it some storage space. We keep most of our small appliances in lower cabinets.
We keep our air fryer out because we use it almost daily and keep our KitchenAid Stand Mixer out because it’s a decorative pink color which matches our kitchens.
Display Decorative Utensils and Tools
Where possible, keep all strictly functional tools tucked away. We display a few wooden spoons and utensils in this pink Mason jar holder and the rest are tucked away in this drawer.
My utensil drawer could use a little organization, but it opens and closes without issue and we can find everything we need. Very open to any tips you have for keeping it looking sharper, though!
Hang Grilling Tools Inside Cabinets
Some utensils and tools are too big for a drawer, but that doesn’t mean they have to sit out, either. With some white 3M hooks and ingenuity I created an organized grilling tool storage system inside one of our lower cabinets.
It might not look like a Marie Kondo dream, but it’s actually incredibly organized to have those larger tools on the sides versus the shelves. Kevin also keeps several larger grilling tools outside on the side of the grill or inside the cabinet, but for anything patio entertainment or grilling we want kept inside, we’ve organized this cabinet to meet our needs.
Keep the Fridge Clutter-Free
It’s hard not to keep important information on the fridge since it’s a central point that everyone in the house typically hits at least once a day. However, if it’s full of post it notes, cards, memos and bills you may start to lose it a bit.
Keep grocery lists and important information on side of the fridge instead of the front. This is usually out of sight unless you’re in the kitchen itself. Most guests won’t even see this area anyway!
Pantry Command Center
I’m 100% all about a command center, especially if you have pets or kids with a whole extra set of emergency contacts and information. However, it doesn’t need to be in plain sight 24/7. We keep ours on the inside of our pantry door.
Anyone who watches the dog or will babysit future children will know all these resources are right here in case of emergency.
Do you currently implement any of these kitchen hacks in your home? Which one(s) do you think you’ll try incorporating next? My favorites are keeping all the clutter off of the fridge and the boring looking paper products out of site. Share yours in the comments!
