Popular Maternity Leggings Review

Have you gotten a bunch of different maternity legging recommendations since becoming pregnant? Because, same. I always sincerely appreciate recommendations, I say the more the merrier and I can filter through them, but sometimes it’s overwhelming. This is my ranking of popular pairs of maternity leggings that I’ve tried over the last year. Peruse through at your leisure, and hopefully you can find a pair that works for you!

Fabletics Maternity Leggings

As a Fabletics loyalist, I was a little disappointed in their maternity offering overall. Quality is good, they have pockets, the sizing makes sense, but the fit lacks. On me, their High-Waisted PureLuxe Maternity 7/8 length leggings have the belly panel starting right around my belly button.

As any pregnant woman knows, your pregnancy belly starts waaaay below your belly button. It leaves the fit in the area between your belly button and your legs a bit loose, which isn’t to say they don’t fit, they just sit off of your body more than usual. I prefer a legging that fits against the skin throughout.

Here’s a close up. You can see that seam running right across the middle of my belly, right? I didn’t known better when I was first shopping for maternity leggings, but now I’ll never buy ones that fit like this again. Still a HUGE fan of my non-maternity Fabletics, but their maternity line is just not for me.

Spanx Maternity Leggings

The classic Spanx Seamless maternity leggings have a large tummy panel, which is better when you’re 30+ weeks pregnant or really tall, but may not be ideal otherwise. A big plus to me is how they feel smoother and slimmer, even a bit dressier.

These Mama Look at Me Now Seamless Leggings are a much better option than the Fabletics ones above, but are still not my go-to pair. However, I do stand by grabbing a pair for dressier occasions. The fit just feels more put together, they look less like loungewear and nicer tops and tunics will sit nicer with them.

Plus, once your bump is REALLY big, you’ll enjoy the large tummy panel on these. Earlier on it was a little bit much fabric but I’m thankful to have this option now!

Zella Maternity Leggings

These are my absolute #1 pick in maternity leggings. I have five pairs in pant length, one pair in crop length and three pairs of maternity biker shorts by Zella. They fit me perfectly with the tummy panel contouring to your natural bump curve, making them feel barely there.

I wear a size Large and am normally a 12/14 in pre-maternity pants sizes. I’d say overall they run pretty true to size too, which I love to see in a brand.

Zella Maternity Leggings Bump

The tummy panel is generous without being overbearing, even when you have a smaller bump. You can find these primarily at Nordstrom and they’re sometimes even included in the Nordstrom Semi-Annual sales. Keep an eye out when the next one is on!

I love these so much I’d even had a graphic circulating on my LIKEtoKNOW.it, sharing below. Be sure to give me a follow if you’re on the app!

Note: They used to make Zella Maternity biker shorts, but I can’t find them right now. They may be discontinued but if you happen to come across some on Poshmark or Mercari for a deal, rest assured they’re very much worth a shot!

What are your go-to pairs of maternity leggings? How do they fit and run, size-wise? I know there’s plenty more brands out there, these are just the ones I own and have worn several times. I’d love to hear what I’m missing!
