After the hustle of the 2022 holiday season, I wanted to revisit my trip to Los Angeles for the Amazon Creator Summit. It was in Los Angeles the weekend before Thanksgiving in 2022. It was an absolute honor to be invited, and the content was so valuable. I even got to meet Jessica Alba!
Naturally, I stayed on theme and had a suitcase full of Amazon fashion, beauty and gadgets to accompany me. Let’s see what made the cut and more importantly, why? Let’s dive in.
My Go-To Amazon Travel Essentials
If you can imagine it, Amazon makes it, and then some. Amazon has EVERYTHING! These are my best Amazon travel buys, for whether I’m jetting off for a week or driving down the road for the night.
My Amazon Carry On Suitcase
A trusted brand name, my go-to roller bag is this Samsonite carry on from Amazon. I’ve had it forever, at least since before my honeymoon in 2018 and who knows how long prior to that. It doesn’t have any signs of wear and isn’t even really scuffed. Highly recommend this bag. Throw a colorful luggage tag on it for easy identification and you’re good to go!
Oh, and don’t sleep on this memory foam travel pillow. I love the memory foam for good support while plane snoozin’. Can’t be waking up at my destination with a crick in my neck!
Athleisure Style Puffer Tote Bag
The second I saw this bag I KNEW I needed it!
This is my actual puffer tote bag, as spotted in-store one day, but there are similar ones on Amazon, like this one or this one here.
T3 Micro Curling Iron
This is the only hair tool I packed for my 36 hour trip. I’m not one for elaborate hairstyles (mostly because I have no talent in this arena) so I kept it simple. I was able to do spirals the morning I left and they held until the next morning.
Each day they got a quick sprucing up with my T3 curling iron, some hair spray, and that was it! I actually have the 3-barrel convertible set but it looks like it’s currently unavailable on Amazon. Keep an eye out though! This set is a good alternative with a wave wand piece, too.
Amazon Creator Summit Highlights
Aside from the education, there were a lot of opportunities for growth, development and fun at the event. One of my favorites was getting to shoot a professional grade commercial that’s currently circulating the Amazon app! Keep an eye out for me demonstrating the Chuck-It Kick Fetch on an Amazon Explore tab near you.
*Insert plug here for the new Amazon Explore tab that allows you to check out product inspo directly in-app! Click the light bulb icon at the bottom of your Amazon app to see what I’m talking about.*
Like I mentioned above, I also got to meet Jessica Alba! She was our keynote speaker, opening up the conference on day one. Only a small group of maybe 10-20 women got a chance to sneak a photo with her. Jessica wasn’t doing formal meet-and-greets but she was a total gem and humored some of the fangirls lurking nearby while she was shooting content in the Honest area.
She talked about responsibility and ethics regarding how big businesses make their products, and joked about how the only people she tests her products on first are her family, ha! She was a real sweetie and couldn’t have been nicer, especially in front of a crowd of about 200 big fans.
Additionally, the Honest booth had a team of makeup artists available throughout the day. You could pop in for a touch up which was nice since it was definitely on the warmer side, being LA and all.
One of the sessions was holiday themed and we got to make gingerbread men during the presentation. Naturally, ya girl made her true muse, the Amazon delivery guy. These little extras were a fun spin on mental breaks from all the information we were taking in during the quick 48-hour event.
Amazon Creator Summit Beauty Essentials
Knowing the Amazon Creator Summit was going to be a weekend FULL of content, I knew I had to be camera ready 24/7. My A-team of Amazon beauty/travel products were in tow, below are some of my universally handy products.
Silicone Toiletry Bottles
These refillable silicone bottles are TSA approved. They come empty, ready to be filled with whatever products you use, not just the default options available in the travel section. These come in a bunch of different color options so you can easily match your current aesthetic.
My Toiletry Travel Bag
This quilted fabric hanging toiletry bag is the #1 Best Seller on Amazon with over 38,000 reviews and a solid 5-star rating. It comes in two different sizes, mine is the medium, but there’s a large also. Personally, I think the medium has more than enough room for what I need.
Julep Facial Oil
Love that Amazon carries my Julep facial oil and in a travel size to boot. You’d be surprised what travel sized items Amazon has compared to the average pharmacy or department store. Like this smaller version of my deodorant, it’s even refillable leading to less waste! Definitely take a peek around Amazon when searching for travel toiletries, you never know what you’ll find!
And if that turns out to be nothing, don’t sleep on those silicone travel bottles above to customize your carry on product lineup.
Other Popular Amazon Travel Essentials
- No-Chafe Stick (a dress-wearing essential!)
- Neutral Pill Container
- TSA Compliant Dry Shampoo
Amazon Fashion I Packed
Now for the important details… the Amazon Fashion that I packed!
Virtually everything I wore was Amazon Fashion. How could it not be?! Everything is tagged with size recommendations. If you’re newer around here, I’m a size US 12/14 or L/XL, and a US 9.5/10 in shoes for reference!
Travel Day Outfit
Just days before leaving I’d snagged a few cozy pullovers. This Amazon Pullover in apricot won the right to be my travel day top for its sporty but cute vibe. It’s an ever so slightly off-cream color with a slight peachy apricot tint, and it’s all over Amazon right now. Really, this apricot color is probably why I’m on such a neutral kick now! It’s just a pretty color while still being a versatile neutral.
- Leggings are my #1 favorite Fabletics PowerHold Leggings, now available on Amazon! Wearing Large.
- My White Tennis Shoes are the comfiest all-white minimalist pair, wearing size 10.5, my true gym shoe size.
Day 1: Blazer and Light Wash Denim
My light wash jeans are the only non-Amazon piece from my day one attire. All the details are below!
- #1 Best Selling Women’s Blazer on Amazon, wearing size XL (also own it in khaki).
- White Sleeveless Bodysuit, runs small, wearing XXL for a little extra breathing room.
- Neutral Tan Studded Sandals, wearing size 9.5.
- Black Belt has 2,700+ reviews and comes in nine colors!
Night 1: Lil’ Wayne Concert Outfit
Everyone at summit was invited to the taping of the weekly Amazon Music Live Concert, which was Lil’ Wayne. He was great live, so entertaining and was so nice! It was fun to jam to some old favorites.
Given I didn’t take many good photos at all, I have this non-trip photo that better shows off a majority of my night-of outfit. It’s such a frequent outfit combo I had a spare photo lying around!
- Flannel is an XL in Apricot, I have four! Size up if between sizes.
- Same White Sleeveless Bodysuit from during the day! Pack smarter, not bulkier.
- White Tennies are from my travel day outfit. I planned to re-use these to pack more lightly!
- Faux leather leggings above weren’t worn in LA, but are too good not to share at this price point.
- This is my go-to wedding guest/occasion crossbody that doubled as my wallet during the day and converted to a clutch or crossbody at night. Again, another way to the same piece a few different ways!
Day 2: All Black Top and Dark Denim
Once again, my denim is my only non-Amazon piece of attire today. I have way too much denim to buy any more right now, so whatever I had was what was getting packed!
- Short Sleeve Bodysuit est. in my closet since 2019 and it’s a frequent go-to. I like my bodysuits big so I went with XXL on this one!
- Same #1 Best Selling Women’s Blazer from day one (are you seeing a packing trend?) 😆
- Double Layered Gold Half Moon Necklace, also a #1 Best Seller!
- Same Neutral Tan Studded Sandals, wearing size 9.5.
- The belt is a long-discontinued Amazon find, sadly. But this a similar non-Amazon one!
Day 2: Red Carpet Evening Gown
Walking the *Pink* Carpet was a highly anticipated event for all the attendees! My entire red carpet outfit was from Amazon.
- Amazon Evening Gown, this evening gown is the #1 Best Seller in Women’s Formal Dresses!
- To get it to L.A. looking fly, I used this garment bag to pack it and hang once I got there.
- My black faux suede heels are from 2019 and I’m wearing a size 9.5 (normally 9.5/10).
- Underneath, this popular Spanx shapewear was CLUTCH! I felt like a million bucks all evening.
- Lastly, this is the same convertible clutch I used as a wallet all weekend and wore to the concert. No need to pack an extra bag for a couple hour event when this one converts into the perfect match-everything clutch.
Best Product Discoveries I Made on this Trip
In addition to everything else I took away from this trip, I found a few new favorite products. These are items I discovered at Amazon Creator Summit and have continuously used for the past two months since.
- Laneige Lip Mask (my favorite is Berry) the hype is REAL on this mask!
- HexClad Cookware (Gordon Ramsay uses these on all his shows, I LOVE my 10″ frying pan)
- Honest Beauty (the mascara with an attached primer is awesome)
Additional Amazon Travel Essentials
These are additional Amazon travel products that you won’t want to miss!
- Apple Watch charger
- Coffee sleeve trio (I brought the medium one since it’s most universal)
- Collapsible selfie stick
Overall Trip Highlights
The Amazon Creator Summit was invaluable. My job is very remote, almost to a fault. Getting to meet some smiling faces in person and hug some people I’ve talked to for a long time was amazing! I also made several amazing new friends, all of whom I’m so thankful for, and one who is local to me and I’ve even already run into at an event back home!
The programming was also very worthwhile, resulting in a few new things coming to the blog soon. Give a hint, you say? Let’s just say there may be some tangible goods coming to the blog this year.
And that’s all I’ll say!
Let me know what you thought about my Amazon Creator Summit recap below. I’d also be happy to answer any question you have about the event that I’m able.
