Strawberry banana goodness with splashes of caffeine and apple cider vinegar is the best way to describe my new morning drink. With only 130 calories per serving (at 1 serving per day) you’re adding a lot of nutrition (without a lot of calories into your day). The recipe couldn’t be easier.
Note: if you need more morning caffeine than this offers, this once daily punch of nutrition also makes a great afternoon snack/pick-me-up combo.
Apple Cider Vinegar Smoothie Ingredients
- 20 oz of cold water
- 8-10 large ice cubes
- One Strawberry Crystal Light packet (10 calories per packet)
- One Strawberry Lemonade Starbucks Refreshers packet (70 calories per packet)
- 2 bananas (approx. 180 calories)
- 4 tbsp of apple cider vinegar (0 calories!)
Yields 2 servings total for a total of = 260 calories
That is only 130 calories per ~18 oz serving, per day!
Apple Cider Vinegar Smoothie Benefits
The Crystal Light packet is primarily just flavor to help tone down the lemonade effect of the Starbucks Refresher.
The Starbucks packets add caffeine from green coffee extract and strawberry lemonade flavor (if preferred, this ingredient could likely be cut out due to the Crystal Light providing caffeine and strawberry flavoring, I’m just very used to this additive due to my routine morning Pink Drinks).
The Bananas are one of two big nutritional contributions. They are rich in vitamin B6 and a good source of manganese, vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber, potassium, biotin (read: healthy hair), and even copper.
The Apple Cider Vinegar has a laundry list of nutritional benefits, most importantly being the many benefits of cardiac health it offers. Most notably for me, ACV may help lower blood sugar levels and manage diabetes. This article from Healthline does a great job of detailing the benefits for you and your food that Apple Cider Vinegar provides.
Making a Single Serving ACV Smoothie
Not everyone wants to make a double servings, and that’s no problem. Instead, use half of literally everything and BOOM, you’ve got one serving!
Alternatively, you can simply store the extra half in a temperature sealing stainless steel container. I froze mine all day and moved to the fridge before bed so it would soften for my morning commute. It ended up being a little too temperature sealed and I let it thaw until afternoon. However, you can fix that by using a plastic tumbler or just not freezing it.
Shake it a bit to break up any remaining ice and you’re all set for day two without the second round of cleanup.
I’m looking forward to incorporating apple cider vinegar into more of my diet in the near future. There’s so many more ways to do so! Let me know how you get a little ACV in your diet each day in the comments.
If you give this delicious, fruity concoction a try please be sure to let me know in the comments as well! I always welcome feedback and love hearing how you guys tailor recipes to make them your own!
