This is the fastest I’ve ever gulped down my Shakeology, for sure. Not because I was doubled over from exhaustion, starving or anything extreme. I think it’s simply because my muscles were well-worked and craving a refuel like never before. 80 Day Obsession is definitely not a starter program. You can easily work your way up to it, though. It may take a few programs, or even just one to get you back in the saddle first. I really love and recommend the path I took.
But First, 21 Day Fix
I started with 21 Day Fix on July 9, an excellent beginner-intermediate level program that focuses on different muscle groups each day of the week,. Plus, an active recovery day on Sunday (yoga, for the win). I lost 6 lbs, noticeably toned up a good deal and actually squeezed all 21 of my workouts in an 18-day window because of timing. The very end of the program would cut into my bachelorette weekend so I squeezed a few two-a-days in beforehand.
My 80 Day Obsession Journey
After an amazing few days of vacationing with my best gals it was hard both mentally and a little physically to get back in the game. I came home Sunday afternoon and still took Monday off from working out.
It’s important to know that there’s nothing wrong with rest. If your body is screaming for you to take the day off, listen to it. It’s fine to be a day or two behind if your body needs rest, or to double up on workouts on occasion. Though, I don’t recommend doubling up so much as you level up to more intense programs.
Once I got back in the saddle the Tuesday after my big weekend, I started A Little Obsessed, which by design, is an intro to 80 Day Obsession. I really recommend doing this 5-day program to see how you feel about taking on a similar 80-day commitment, especially if you’re unsure you can handle it.
I completed the whole A Little Bit Obsessed program and by Day 1 of 80 Day Obsession, there were no doubts. With just a little over 80 calendar days until my wedding, I came to the conclusion I needed to just jump in and do it. 80 Day Obsession is actually a little more than 80 days due to rest days, but if I don’t finish before my wedding (and I’m 99% sure I won’t), that’s okay. I’ll finish when I get back. The results will still be incredible for my wedding and honeymoon, and I’ll have a solid two weeks of rebooting my good habits before the program is over once I’m home again.
80 Day Obsession, Day One
Feeling before Day 1: Am I going to die? Am I biting off more than I can chew?
Feeling after Day 1: Okay, I can do this. It’s the right amount of push and I’ll absolutely make it, even if I have to modify here and there. Also, I was even doing pushups in decent form..who am I??
I’m thrilled that Beachbody is really working for me. My coach can tell you how hesitant I was at first. With a wedding and how costly that process is I wasn’t sure I could spend the money to get going. Looking back, this was the best $180 I’ve spent in a long time.
While that seems like a lot, most of it is either a one-time or annual expense. Of that, $99 was for Beachbody on Demand for 1 year, and is only an annual cost. The rest went towards my challenge pack (of which I’ve used the items in one or both programs so far, well worth it) and my first month of Shakeology (which is usually $125 by itself, if you’re not a coach). So, it was not only well worth it to try, but is proving to be a very worthy investment.
Are you seeing results?
Seeing AND feeling. Something hilarious, though? We were helping Kev move his brother last weekend and he said my arms are noticeably toned, and that he would be on his best behavior now, ha! Really though, it’s cool that he noticed. That tells me that what I’m feeling is actually showing, which is also an amazing feeling. I haven’t been drinking coffee or sugary Starbucks refreshers either (at least, on a regular basis… you better believe I still treat myself). I’ve been taking Beachbody Energize Pre-Workout in the morning before my workout. That little 8 oz glass of lemon (or fruit punch) flavored water truly carries me through my day. Not to mention, I have good, healthy energy for my workout first thing in the morning.
