One of my favorite drinks is the Starbucks Strawberry Green Iced Tea. I’d consider it a ‘secret menu’ item because you definitely can’t just stumble upon this combination in the app or store. Starbucks still does not have a strawberry syrup (how??) so you have to get a little creative.
About My Starbucks Strawberry Green Iced Tea
Aside from the addition of the strawberry flavor, the drink is otherwise a lightly sweetened iced green tea. Surely the strawberry adds some sugar and calories but it’s worth it for the delicious flavor.
The strawberry actually comes from the base of the strawberry acai refresher drink. It’s not an option in the app, though I hope it will be soon. I’ve also even mentioned strawberry syrup to our baristas before. They actually ask for feedback and suggestions to send up to corporate so I pitched it to them. If we see that in the future… well, you heard it here first!
How to Order This Drink
My drink order label is below for reference but if you ask the barista for a “(size) iced green tea with strawberry base and one pump liquid cane sugar” you’ll get the exact drink I’m talking about.
Sometimes the barista will ask if you’re replacing the water with the strawberry base and the answer is yes. I don’t often get asked that, but it’s come up (and anytime it’s Kevin ordering he always gets a little panicked, poor guy).
Strawberry Green Iced Tea Nutrition
Iced tea on its own has very little content which makes it easy to enjoy often. However, when you add the strawberry base, you’re undoubtedly adding a decent bit of sugar and some calories.
I can’t find the exact breakdown for the strawberry base nutrition online but I imagine it is similar to all the other refreshers calorie and sugar counts. For a venti, you’re looking at about 110 calories and 27 grams of sugar, which yes, is a lot.
If you’re following a very specific diet, I always recommend digging further into the nutrition information than relying on the estimates in my posts. And here’s hoping they come out with a strawberry syrup soon!
Another Way to Order
Looking for a little more caffeine? Sometimes I order this exact drink except I get it in black tea.
To give you an idea, green tea has about 5-10% as much caffeine as a cup of regular coffee, but black tea has about 20% as much. Black tea will give you double the amount of caffeine as green tea but it’s still only about 40 mg of caffeine in a grande, which is all someone who’s more sensitive like me needs.
