My most recent obsession: Uber.
For those who are unfamiliar, it’s actually all over the globe these days so you’re really not looking very hard. It’s an awesome start up that has developed an app that lets you call a cab at will. Sure, there are a couple of other companies in the industry, but Uber is the one that first really took off.
About the Uber App
“Yea, but they’re probably soooooo expensive.”
FALSE. Ubers aren’t even as expensive as the yellow cabs you’ll hail, they’re MUCH cleaner and Uber gives you info on your drivers. You’re also in that driver’s own car so it is kept with more care and is far less sketch.
The app gives you a ton of information on your ride, including driver name, rating and the type of car to expect. You’ll also get an arrival ETA to both you and then your destination once you’re on the ride. It’ll recalibrate and take into account traffic for real time data that you can even share with phone contacts to keep them apprised on your ride.
As a female living in a large urban city, an app like this makes me feel good about traveling solo. It’s a game changer to be able to send my ride to my boyfriend or friends to let them know my whereabouts and ETA.
Other cool features include picking from a standard car, a large car to fit more friends or a black car if you’re needing a high class ride.
