Recently, I shared my breakthrough homemade Starbucks matcha latte and you may have noticed the cold foam topper. Today, I’m happy to share the simple cold foam tutorial that goes along with that drink. The cold foam recipe only calls for three ingredients and odds are you have them all already if you’re making coffee drinks at home. If not, they’re simple and available at nearly every grocer.
Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam Ingredients
Dairy and flavor, that’s all there is to this simple cold foam.
- Heavy whipping cream: the most important ingredient, what gives the foam its body.
- If you’re dairy-free, Silk makes an awesome non-lactose heavy whipping cream for you!
- Flavor: this recipe calls for sugar-free vanilla but you can sub this out for your favorite flavor easily (hazelnut, caramel, etc.).
- Milk: You need a very tiny bit to cut the thickness of the heavy whipping cream.
Making Sweet Cream Cold Foam
In a small cup (or the same shaker you made your latte in, rinsed out), add about 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream.
Then, add a splash (approximately 1/4 tsp of milk) and one pump (roughly 2 tbsps) of sugar-free syrup.
Next, take your electric frother whisk and froth the cream, milk and syrup for about ten seconds or until thickened. Your cold foam should be thick enough to pour slowly, but not so thick that it hardly moves when you swirl it.
If you want to get really fancy, there’s an inexpensive cold milk foam maker on Amazon you can grab. This gadget would be ideal if you’re making multiple lattes or coffees at once.
Finally, pour your cold foam over your latte/coffee and enjoy! If you’re looking for a cute new cold cup, these colorful insulated stainless tumblers are great.
Looking for Non-Flavored Cold Foam?
No problem! Sub the sugar-free vanilla for simple syrup. You can even go calorie and sugar-free by making yours with Splenda instead of sugar.
